Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández In Stable Condition, Hospitalized With COVID-19

Dr. César Aarón Carrasco (above) reported last Thursday that the health of Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez is stable and in “very good general condition” despite being hospitalized last Tuesday with symptoms of fever, fatigue, and general malaise. Testing revealed a he was infected with the Novel COVID-2 Coronavirus, and resultant inflammation requiring admittance to the Honduran Military Hospital.

The president’s wife, Ana Garcia de Hernandez has also been infected and hospitalized.

The doctor stated that “up to now the evolution that the president has had has been satisfactory, he has not shown any type of pulmonary deterioration or his general condition and for now he is in a good general condition and we hope that he will recover from this situation he’s going through.”

When asked if the president continues to work from the hospital, Carrasco said that “he is in his bed, sometimes resting, and I cannot speak about anything other than the medical.”

According to the doctor, President Hernandez is receiving a standard regimen, no different than any other COVID-19 patient. “Perhaps he could be hospitalized for another 5 or 6 days, everything depends on his evolution.” The doctor added “there is a multidisciplinary team including pulmonologists, infectious disease pathologists, and all of them are in charge; that is, it is not a personal decision on how long he will be hospitalized.
